Two-year-old filly Octopolis broke through for a deserved maiden victory at Bowen today, taking out the 1280m event in a performance full of determination and toughness. Having only her third race start, the promising youngster showed maturity beyond her experience to record her first career win and give her connections plenty to look forward to moving ahead.

From the outset, Octopolis travelled prominently and was never far away from the speed, settling into a strong position throughout the run. Despite still being lightly raced, the filly handled the pressure of the race well and showed excellent composure as the tempo increased approaching the home turn.

As the field straightened, the race quickly developed into a genuine staying contest, with Octopolis and the leader breaking away from the remainder of the field to engage in a thrilling battle to the finish. Under pressure, the filly showed terrific tenacity and fitness, refusing to yield as the pair fought stride for stride over the concluding stages.
