Kavak has landed his sixth career win by claiming the Class 6 (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast, today.
The 5yo son of Deep Field, who was assigned top weight of 58kg, faced stiff competition from local pair and market favourites You’ll Be Mist and Funny Money but courtesy of a perfect ride from leading hoop, Ryan Maloney, was able to close the line a long neck clear of his rivals.
Jumping well, Kavak was able to settle just of the leader in second position and travelled well for Maloney.
Held together as the field straightened, Kavak had a little over a length to make up on the leader, but when Maloney asked for the effort at the final furlong marker, he responded strong, joining the leaders before plenty inside the last 100m to defy a couple of late changes.
The win took Kavak’s stakes earnings to over $280,000 from his 33 starts.
